Abbey Graphics Spotlight

We went to Mountsberg Conservation Park over the weekend and learned about Raptor's at the Raptor Centre. I was fascinated to find out that the Barn Owl such as Jazz here only ways 1 lb. All the birds at the reserve are not releasable again in the wild due to human imprint or injury. Lots there to learn about these amazing creatures!

It isn't easy being green

Went to view my garden and found the grasshopper on a Disco Belle Flower. He seems so content and I couldn't help but notice that he also had pollen on him.  I thought the contrast between him and the flower was quite nice.

Our new resident

We put a little pond in last month and this passed week I found we have a new resident. They say if everything is right with the water you will have a life and sure enough with a few water lettuce and water hycinth and a little bubbler we have now a little frog making his home here. Our Golden Retriever Bronte barks at him everytime she goes over to the pond but they will get used to each other.

It has been a hard day at work, time to sit and relax, enjoy the evening.

Visiting Mountsberg on the long weekend and were visited rather abruptly by this family of horses. The mother was clearly not happy with us photographing her newborns if you notice by the flared nostrils.

Young Buck in Lakeshore Woods

We are so lucky to have such wildlife in our community of Lakeshore Woods, last week my husband and I came across a young buck and his family, 2 fawns (photos to come). Yes the deer was this close to us, we figured he was doing a deco thing for us to not go looking for his kids. He went straight across the path and towards his mate and left the fawns in the thick of the bush where we couldn't see them.   

Tropical Water Lilly

I learned something new while photographing ponds, there are tropical versions of water lillies that come in a variety of colours like this one. In colder climates such as ours here in Canada they have to be brought in doors for the winter. Beautiful just the same. More pond shots visit our site www.abbeyphoto.ca
